I know he's the king of mixing....but it really does help when your mixing multitracks that have been produced and recorded to that standard.

@perfectthetech if you did then you have no idea how to use a compressor. settings depends on the source. there are no presets. period.

@Vortex4001 No, waves makes some of the best sounding plugins, that's why they cost money and don't come with the DAW for free.

For any mix engineers out there that are just starting... Your VERY FIRST plug ins should be the Waves SSL 4000 bundle, and the CLA Classic Compressors. They will take your tracks from ok, to brilliant.
