Bow Fishing for Carp

This is a great way to harvest carp in our higher elevation lakes. These fish have very few predators and have been pushing the pike into deeper waters because of their sheer numbers in the shallows. Fly Fisherman in Co have been targeting carp for the great fight, but sometimes it's necessary to harvest a few to keep populations under control.

Key to bowfishing- aim low. If you think you're aiming low enough, aim lower.

These carp actually don't have many predators. They keep breeding and their numbers get so high that pike, who normally sun and feed in the shallows, get pushed back into deeper water. We don't go kill for fun, although shooting a bow is fun. This is actually a responsible harvesting technique and approved by DOW in many states.
