  • The problem is the catcher self compare to the magnet tall, although the magnet could be powerful it must be as near as possible from the catcher, mostly because your magnet seem to be ceramic wich is a lot less powerful than neodymium. The magnetic field is so away from your catcher that it can absolutely not induce electricity in it. The boost self should also be nearer for the same reason. First of everything remember that is is not a motor but an electricity creator. Let its axle free.

  • One of the wires from touching the turning staff, should act as an commutator. This means it should only touch once on every turn. You have to play at little with this to get the timing right.

Another problem could be if the two coils upper and lower are not going in the same direction. If the upper for example is wired right and the lower is wired left, it won't work.

Watch the videos I posted. I think it might clear things up.

  • Advice.

    1. search newman motors here on youtube and watch all that Daftman did on his.

    2. get better bearings to hold the rod.

  • All so you seem to have your commutator set up wrong.

I will try to post something to help.

  • Hi, one problem is the distance between the magnets and your coils.

    1. Use a smaller diameter drum / tube and rewind the coils.

    2. Or find away of extending your magnets i.e. with a peace of dowel drill hole in the centre of it and mount the magnets on the each end of the dowel.
