people, especially us spoiled americans, want to know wiifm-what's in it for me.
we want to be comfortable and pampered. tell us that it's more comfortable, better lit, less expensive etc. and we are sold.

Gore is missing an opportunity. When he talks of redesigning our transportation, housing, business and power infrastructures you need to tell people that they will be better. There are compelling reasons besides power savings for redesigning all of those things. Transportation that is safer, faster and always connected, that can power your house and drives itself. Buildings that are more comfortable, better lit etc...
