She was born into a wealthy family and became a typical self-loathing Japanese preferring the company of foreigners to Japanese people. If there wasn't a rich family to back up her "art" she would have never became famous... I'm not saying that I don't enjoy some of her work, but she' privileged and spoiled and people shouldn't forget that when they judge her work.

from Google, apparently she's still lives in a mental hospital out of her own free will, and works at a studio nearby

Thank you for posting this. Does anyone know, is she still living in a mental hospital, or did she back into private residence at some point? Because, last I heard (which was a retrospective at NYC's Museum of Modern Art during the late '90s), I'm pretty sure she was confined in a relatively comfortable Japanese hospital and doing all her artwork from there.
