  • Opera singers work hard for years to cultivate their talent and to achieve the end product that the viewers enjoy, and then ALL YOU CAN FOCUS ON IS THEIR WEIGHT! They are singers, NOT FASHION MODELS. They also play the parts of everyday people, SOME of whom, realistically speaking, MAY ACTUALLY BE FAT. Maybe they can't lose the weight, but MOST slim people can't even sing a tenth as good as SHE CAN! Thank goodness that slimness is not a firm requirement for singing the way she does.

  • the colour of her voice is so incredible. Bravissima !!!

  • @ManIhTwoLinJay i dont think the bigger you are the more air you can take in but being skinny probably doesn't help

  • @contessabrilliante Technicaly bigger vocalist that the upper hand since they will have a bigger diaphram. Same for musicians. My teacher is a preety big guy and when he plays trombone he only has to take a breathe every 5 or more measures. I am a verry skinny Bass Trombonist and I have to take a breathe every 2 or 3 meausures but of course my instrument requires more air.

The same goes for singers. The more air you can take in the longer and better sounding you will be. I suck at explaining :P

  • Absolutely stupendous singing! Brava, Ms. Blythe!

  • It is my dream to visit an opera in this 18th century style !

  • Gosh cant wait for November when this will be in HD with Blythe!!! She's awesome!! :D :D :D

  • Just a comment on the voice and the weight. Voice- amazing and powerful. Weight- not a problem. She has been about the same size for 20 years. It seems like she is doing fine to me!

  • @Samurai9 Shes one of the best performers I have ever seen in my entire life. Every performance is riveting and well acted. Besides the fact that she sings like a goddess. Also her weight has not stopped her from getting work so why focus on it. I feel sorry for you that you need to find flaws in one of the best singers of this generation.

  • @firebug47 If you see her live there is an echo when she sings. Huge voices have that resonance.

  • Say it girl!!!

  • Wow...HAHAHA And here I thought being overweight was a DISadvantage. Not that I'm going to use that as an excuse to continue down this rocky road to cancer or diabetes. ...but that sure is funny!
