artist David Humphries
National Capital Exhibition Centre
Regatta Pt, Canberra ACT 2000
In a landmark location at the national capital, Humphries interpreted the original visionary 1913 designs and plans for Canberra by Walter Burley Griffin.
Humphries created a unique feature within the plaza itself.
This example is a highly disciplined and structured piece, demanding great accuracy in transferring designs from one medium to another - the fragility of paper to the permanence of terrazzo.
Size: 5m x 5m (made as 16 pre-fabricated terrazzo panels)
Artist: David Humphries, in collaboration with Bruce Chalmers Landscape Architect, the National Capital Authority.
Architects: Woods Bagot
Commissioned: The National Capital Authority.
