Ermey was a Corporal in 1965 and was my DI at MCRD San Diego, California Platoon3 73 and at Camp Edson rifle range, near Oceanside, California. The rifle is the M-14 which was replaced (USMC) in 1967 in Vietnam. Many of my friends died because the first M16's failed, jammed with no way to clear, one cleaning rod for each 5 Marines, in battle and left us to be overrun and bayoneted in the hills around Khe Sanh. Memories!
