does it do it when you actually have it hooked up to a proper source? playing it through the LFE bypasses the amp and would be used if you were using a high quality receiver. In other words, an MP3 player cannot provide enough oomph to power this thing. I'm not sure why you would want to use this setup because it's 100% low end, but if for some reason you do, you would need a Y-splitter that goes from the headphone jack on your mp3 player to the red and white RCA inputs on the back of the sub.
