I was born, raised and still live here in Willimantic and I gotta say everything about this video is correct, but not everyone that lives in housing gets "free" rent I've lived in housing for 8 yrs now and I never have gotten a break on my rent ($935 a month). I've never been one to look for handouts even tho 90% of the people here do. Say what you want about the latinos in this town, but those are people that will bend over backwards for their fellow man.

So what are you doing to fix it? you're rant may be entertaining but I fail to see the value if you are offering no solutions. Towns across country are suffering the same fate when it comes to the loss of employers, decrease in property value and increase in Government aid. Where were you while it was getting bad? Did you just realize these things were going on, you've decided those who are willing to attend meetings and show up are to blame... WHERE WERE YOU?

@resborzage I think, or at least I hope, that you realize that voting the "scumbags" out and "throwing them in jail" is not an actual solution. Driving around town and filming a few for sale signs won't fix much either. So when you're asked as to what would a solution be, I'd like you to have a real answer. You just as guilty as those you vilify if all you're going to do is complain and hope for some major overthrow of the government. Educate yourself on reality, not how to upload to youtube.

@doyle54 You are entirely wrong buddy. Voting them out and sending them to jail for incompetence (criminal) would send a very clear message that the party is over. Then ending the welfare free ride will miraculously stop the influx of parasites who come here for a free ride.

Making videos designed to wake people up enough to take action is part of that solution. Movies are powerful agit-prop.

I have since given up on these (as far as I'm concerned) labels Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives, Republicans, socialist, on & on.... it is the people. Life has changed..Thread Mills, theaters, stores have closed down.... I grew up in Willi in the 60's early 70's. We incite meaningless wars (Nam & Iraq) spend billions... work moves to India, China, back then Indonesia, the Philippines, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Columbia. Americans live far beyond their means.

anyone want to see a different perspective watch the doc called "heroine town" I've been going to Willi just about my whole life, i'm no expert but have a friend who lives there, its a nice little neighborhood by Eastern, doesn't look anything like the pics in the vid, not saying there isn't a problem though, he's right about the Dems, the've put Ct into its very own business ressesion, all of CT will go through this, everything sux about polotics in CT! to many jobs are gone what do you expect!

That is the problem with this tea party idealism, you suggest that we just vote everyone out and eliminate welfare. Your ideas are so naive, you have no thought as to what happens to the world if you do that. I can see you have been in Willimantic but haven't really been in Willimantic, I grew up on these streets and this video makes alot of good points but targeting the spanish community as the problem isn't the best idea. you take the jobs out of any town and I can almost gaurantee you the same things were seeing now will happen to any of them.
