Kevin picked Jamie up from her doorstep. This was the first time that Joe and Nick really got a chance to see how close Jamie and Kevin were. They kissed deeply before getting into the car. Jamie was dressed in a short black dress. It showed off how well puberty has treated her well in the last few years. There was a slight bump over her stomach where a baby was growing. It didnt look much like a baby yet, just as if she had put on a little weight. Her eyes glistened in the street light.
Joe and Nick were standing beside Kevins car, admiring the young beautiful in front of them. Joe planted a kiss to Jamies cheek. "Congratulations." He whispered to her.
"We couldnt be any happier for the both of you." Nick spoke as he took Jamies hand in his and kissed the temples of her delicate skin.
Jamie blushed under the street lights. Kevin wrapped his arm around Jamies waist and led her around to the passenger side of his Chevy. He opened the door for her as she scooted inside. Joe had done the same for Nick on the opposite side of the car before he got in.
As they got to The Temptation, Kevin asked for the table that he had reserved. It was a table in the middle of the dinning area. Light conversations and music protruded the air. Down the hall from the dinning area was a dance hall.
Joe and Nick sat on the opposite side of the table from Kevin and Jamie. Kevin sat with his hand linked Jamies on top of the table while they stared deep into the others eyes. They had been apart for at least a month.
Joe and Nick had envy coursing through their blood at the openness that they only longed for. Joe had let his arm fall as he rested it upon Nicks upper thigh.
Kevin ordered for the table. His career of a singer had done him well. He could, unlike very few people, afford to have a baby at their youthful ages. Jamie was lost in conversation with Kevin about how excited she was about bringing the baby into their lives.
Nick looked around the room to see if anyone may notice the two boys holding hands under the table. Everyone appeared to be lost in there own worlds, enjoying the company of those around them. Nick was satisfied enough to lean closer to Joe. Joe was surprised by Nicks actions, but cherished it anyway. There wasnt much else they could do at the moment. They didnt want to try to brake Jamie into knowing about their more than unusual relationship.
After the main coarse, Kevin had requested that they order desert. Kevin and Jamie had split a helping of the kitchens best Four Layer Chocolate Heaven. Joe and Nick agreed to share a slice of Carrot Cake.
Once the two couples seemed satisfyingly full, Kevin stood up from the table and pulled something out of his jacket pocket. The three others gave him their full attention. "Jamie, I have an important question to ask you." Jamie's heart noticeably skipped a beat when Kevin started to speak. "You know that I love you more than the world. I would now like to make you my world." Jamie had tears flutter from her eyes as she watched Kevin bend down to one knee. "Jamie Amysta Colen, will you marry me?"
Just that easy, Kevin made it seem, to say those four life changing words. By now, the whole restaurant had gone quiet and patiently awaited Jamies decision. Jamie cried as she fell into Kevins arms. I do. Thunderous applause was heard throughout the The Temptation. Joe and Nick proudly stood together and clapped the loudest for their older and beloved brother and his new future wife.
Kevin pulled himself and Jamie off the floor. "Lets dance." Kevin cheered. He too was crying tears of joy. Jamie agreed instantly. Kevin gave her a deep kiss on her lips before leading her to the dance hall.
Joe latched to Nicks hand. "May I have a dance tonight?"
Nick only smiled up at Joe with love in his eyes. They made their way into the dance hall. It was dark enough inside that no one would notice the two boys dancing together unless they got too close. There were only a few couples on the dance floor.
Joe took Nicks hands in his and laced his fingers with his. Nick rested his head on Joes chest and Joe leaned his head on Nicks head. "I love you more than anything, Joe."
Joe kissed the top of Nicks head with a smile implanted to his face. "I love you too, Nicky." They stayed locked in arms while the music swept the hours away. Nothing else mattered to the two couples other than their own sweat love for each other and what the rest of their lives would hold for them.
