I'm sure all you fish heads from the late 60's and 70's didn't forget the UT-Arlington Sam Houston Rifles. I recall them beatin up on you 'all many times in competition. in fact I've got plenty of footage. GO Jodies.
I am class of '74. I saw you guys on film many times. To me you looked more like finely tuned machines than human beings.
Never in the interveening 36 years have I ever seen an organization that operated as flawlessly and with as much passion as the
FDT. Not even close.
And if YOU guys think your classmates were impressive, you should have seen them through the eyes of a fish who had never taken a single step of close order drill prior to A&M.
WAS there; DID that... great memories... I remember taking home our scorecard from the DC meet and hanging it in my dorm room; 989 points out of 1,000...
My outfit A-1 had four guys on the '73 team; Pat Gerry, Marvin Byers, Ed Bard and myself...
I didn't graduate with the original class but went back and got my BBA in '76
looked alot like '73 team ... kennedy, mcclung, hernandez in the lead. I remember the routine & our win @ DC. We had great upperclass advisors. Hopefully the archive library will be availble for further viewing.
Red Ass! Those guys had some real snap and pop back then, they must have gotten crapped out a lot! Its amazing what some 'old army' PT will do for your drill. I hope the hounds are crapping out the new fric's right now! Awesome throws, fearless! Again, Awesome!! -fish Cruz AFFDTM '90
I believe this was shot at the tennis courts at Trinity University in San Antonio.
The team is class of '75 or later. We ('74) were the first class to use the octagonal box throws but we did not use the Dick Hanes movement in competition.
I was on the Fish Drill Team within a year or two of this one. We drilled in '69-'70. Do you know where this was taken and the year? Are there other videos of the same era? -- Fish Kennedy '73
