The Super Bowl contest invited viewers to submit a 30-second commercial themed on CBS 58s Just 10 Minutes newscasts. The School of Educations entry features staff and students from the Interpreter Training Program, American Sign Language (ASL) Studies Program and ASL Living Learning Community signing the Just 10 Minutes theme song.
Kyle Stevens produced the entry in collaboration with Heather Ford, adviser and sign language interpreter in the Exceptional Education Department. Ford first heard about the CBS 58 contest from Robert Longwell-Grice, director of the schools Department of Academic Services. After learning more about the contest, Ford started organizing staff and students in the School of Education to create the commercial.
"UWM is unique in that we are the only university in Wisconsin with a variety of options for learning ASL", says Ford.
