This is the prelude to me actually working out what the he'll was wrong with it. Turns out it was the spark plug gap, it was straight out of the box (by a previous owner) and the gap was too large for the feeble electrical system to power. Now at about .8 mm and it starts, runs and idles like a Swiss watch.

  • sound like it not getting the fuel in?

  • @unreal44, that's what I thought but the carb has been ultrasound cleaned to death in a 600w cleaner. It's cleaner than a clean thing. I went back the morning after and it fired up straight away and idled after a minute or so. Hopefully it was just the spark plug gap. Got a fair way to go before it's on the road again though, nice green and cream paintjob, gold pinstripe, rebuilt wheels etc. It's a lovely old bike though.

  • Apologies to any subscribers expecting a chain test update only to see a fat bloke on an ancient moped.
