Brett is as rare as this Steinberger guitar lol

this guy is so underrated in the jazz/fusion scene. Most know greg howe, richie kotzen, frank gambale, guthrie govan etc.... but this guy is really unique with his finger style

No it's not the norm, but lots of guys are running the 85 in the bridge now, and end up balancing it with the 81 in the neck position - much more balanced volume-wise and adds some good thump. I've heard the before and after difference, and I prefer the 81 in the neck and an 85 in the bridge
-
thats totally true ! Quid Pro Quo is the name of the album !

Yeah the more I thought about it the 85 in the bridge is not actually a bad idea. Nice warm smooth tones. Just never concidered it before.
I prefer passive pups myself, but used to use a 81/85 combo "back in the day".
I've seen an EB Luke before, it is a true stunner. A really nice flamed top with gold hardware...very tasteful. Wish I could have played it!

It easily could be stock specs 'cos many of those guitars have bridge 85s. The 85 is actually a great bridge pickup due better bass and mids response compared to the more trebly 81. Check out Steve Lukather's signature Ernie Ball Luke...same specs!

Strange to have an 85 in the bridge. Is that stock specifications?
