John calls upon his 40+ years of music experience to give his opinion on the Gibson ES 335. This particular guitar is a 1983 reissue of an early 1960's Gibson ES-335, and was played through a Rivera Thirty Twelve amp.

  • hey, amazing video. what song were you playing at the start? thanks

  • I just made it up off the top of my head. Thanks for your interest.

  • In your experience (much longer than mine) do you find there to be much of a difference in the construction quality of a solid body and a semi hollow like this? I have a Strat style guitar and I haven't had a single problem with it in terms of build quality. However, I really am still on the hunt for the perfect electric for me. (Found my perfect acoustic, it's a Greg Bennett model, I'd suggest them to anyone). I was either considering an ES 335 or a Les Paul. I am on the road and bus quite oft

  • Good to hear from you.

Go into shops and stores, play and compare as many guitars as you can till the right one pops up.

    Thanks for your interest.

  • Do you ever use the Thirty Twelve anymore? It has such lush tone!

  • I was thinking of buying another one. I've been using the Evans 150 but it's only good for jazz. It's not a good blues amp.

I think the Thirty Twelve could do both well. Thanks
