Hi, Steve McShane here with a McShane's Nursery Note, I've got a guest here, this is Eric.
The topic today is pomegranates. It has really come up as a popular fruit for the garden. It has a beautiful hedge, nice flowers. It's actually a great thing for a crossover between landscape and edible gardening.
One of the most popular ones that I know of is the wonderful pomegranate. This is the most planted variety of pomegranate in California. Really popular, good producer, very consistant. I'd say in the last few years science has brought it even further.
There's one I want to feature and that is a white pomegranate and this is it here. That's right, sweeter than most pomegranates and a unique white fruit. A unique development. Though my favorite variety throughout and above is the ambrosia. This baby here, this is a new grafted variety that came to us and it's just a good, consistant performer and known for just ginormous fruit. Largest pomegranates out there are going to be an ambrosia.
But wait, there's more! Eric might have something here, what are we looking at here Eric?
This is an Angel Red Pomegranate. This one here is great because you have less seeds, more juice and a much sweeter taste.
Sweeter Fruit, Less Seeds, more juice.. What more could you ask for? It's kind of our highlight for today, Pomegranates.
