Paul Holstein of Cableorganizer.com demonstrates how to use heat shrink tape to repair spliced cables. Heat shrink tape is an environmentally friendly heat melted adhesive lined polyolefin tape. This tape is primarily used for repair of electrical cabling and insulation, but has many other uses. Buy yours today at http://cableorganizer.com/adhesive-heat-shrink-tape/

  • Hi, I have my invention working better: cut a 7cm. heat shrink tube used for leds longitudinally. you have now two pieces of 7cm long tape. wind it around the cable simply and pince it up using a metal clip. During heat up it mustn't move so it stays a bit under pression. Use your heat gun 200 to 250 °C gradually. (be careful it is hot) wait a bit and correct with fingers. heat and correct. that's all. it is now as a part of cable and hardened.

  • @ObamaBiden20082012 Ah, it is lined with temperature activated adhesive. But it would be much easier to use if it were lined with a bit of room temp active adhesive so it worked more like normal electrical tape. For that reason this product seems GOOD for big jobs (water pipes, large cables) but if you want something smaller search Google for "heat shrinkable tape"

  • Thats the crappiest heat shrink job ive ever seen, that tape doesnt look to good to me

  • He did use a too much tape. Really, you should only use enough to go around the cable 1 1/2 times, cable tie it down then hit it with a heat gun. It is for pipe repair and cable repair in instances when it is very difficult to take apart the entire assembly. In that case it makes sense.

  • I think you used way too much heat shrink tape on this.

You can buy the liquid heat shrink that you can just brush on to a wire where you don't have to worry about all this.

  • Now that is just tooooo much work. Just cover the area with electrical tape, then cover it with glue gun glue.
