The White Desert National Park, Sunset, Bahariya Oasis, Egypt
A main geographic attraction of Farafra is its White Desert (known as Sahara el Beyda, with the word sahara meaning a desert). The White Desert of Egypt is located 45 km (30 miles) north of Farafra. The desert has a white, cream color and has massive chalk rock formations that have been created as a result of occasional sandstorms in the area. The Farafra desert is a typical place visited by some schools in Egypt, as a location for camping trips.

Crystal Mountain, Bahariya Oasis, Egypt
In the way between El-Bahariya and El-Farafra, in the governorate of New Valley, in the Western Desert, stands the Crystal Mountain. It is not really a mountain, but rather a rock where crystal lumps are breaking like flowers.

Hi,
I fully agree with you about it is much nicer to walk there. That is also what I did before the sun came up. This area is truly unbelievable to experience. You can also take on a few days hiking through this area. We sleep outside and had a great diner with open sky. Magnificent place to go to.
