This quality and importance of the content of this video is greatly diminished by the off-putting, 80's style, static-arcade audio loop running on repeat

I love this video! It REALLY captured the love people have for video games. Everyone who has played a good game knows first hand the beauty and art that is behind this wonderfully interactive media form. Without a doubt video games are art! I wish sooooooo bad I could go to this wonderful exhibit! I am so happy such a prestigious place, the Smithsonian, is featuring video games!

Better idea. If you want to play a game with beautiful or unique artistic style, Play Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, or even Rayman Origins

This just demonstrates how art and the materials used for art are constantly evolving and why it is such an evocative experience for so many people of all ages and backgrounds.

just saw the results for the votes, if I want to play a video game set in a walk-in toilet I'll play bioshock, for artistic visuals I'll play halo or gears

Did they make this exhibit just to counter Rogert Ebert?

Yes, the true artistic games are games like Bioshock, Metal gear solid (pretty much all of them), Mass Effect, Fallout, Heavy Rain, Deus Ex and more.. that have deep stories, characters and art designs.

In the history of art there have been many movements, the impressionist movement, post impressionist, cubism movement, abstract art movement, dada movement, the futurists, the renaissance movement etc etc. Through out time Art has gone through a incredible evolution allowing pop art and many other forms of art come into play. I believe video games, music, movie art are excellent examples that define 21st century art and that should be celebrated as part of the new medium.

This is awesome, and well overdue. Art has gone through a incredible evolution for many years. Video games along with movie magic from hollywood and even movie art should be celebrated as the form of 21st century art. Entertainment and experience for virtual reality, gaming, movies, special effects is spectacular. The consumers and true fans are the winners as more great things are made as a result of inspiration from these amazing products.
