If you click on my user name in this video you will see my channel and it has a link to an article I wrote about how to sign with your baby. There is also a link to our website and there you will find tons of info and resources on signing. There is a free online dictionary, a baby signing video store, a book store, classes etc!
There's really no one reason. Is she seeing a speech therapist? Many speech therapists encourage the use of sign language with children who have delayed speech so that they can at least have a form of language to use until their speech develops.
@SmartHandsCA: Thanks for replaying my comment! Oh, I see. Yes, it's a great communication. I understand what you mean, I have also deaf friends and I communication with them as well as with my family. Anyway, thank you for showing that our "language" is a LIVING proof that everybody can do! =)
