Not Louisiana, the outback of Australia, or a rainforest in Brazil.

The velvet green is duckweed, a fast growing plant inhabiting new ponds. bullfrogs punch out the rhythm of this odd looking place and the water is pocked with the bobbing heads of harmless pond snakes.

The rest of the chorus are red-winged blackbirds, woodpeckers, nuthatches, cardinals, and ovenbirds.

HD choose high quality.

duckweed clean ponds by removing nitrates and phosphates and need sunlight to flourish. sunlight allows for plantlife and thus a home for turtles, frogs, fish, and amphibians.
