Dusty Wednesday Morning

Back on the 23rd of September, 2009 the whole of Sydney was covered in dust!

There was a dust storm the previous afternoon around the inland regions of NSW, and with all the strong winds, all that dust was brought down to Sydney during the early morning. I remember waking up to this red/orange glow in my room, looked outside and everything in my street was covered... looked awesome! =]

I heard the truck in the area, and that gave me the idea to get a video of the truck collecting in the dust... a bit of a different setting. This was also one of the three new 22m GenVs in Warrringah at the time. Hope you enjoy, please rate and comment.

@SitaEnvironmental They should've been washed, but if they actually were, I have no idea??? I am sure the truck's would've ended up in the washbay eventually though...

My street has a cul-de-sac, but I don't actually live around the curve of it. I wouldn't really care about what I get to do in the end, but the vegetation would be cool =]

Awesome!! So is it bad for people to breathe when it's like this--does it get in everyone's lungs or something?

I don't think it's that bad for people in general, just affects asthma sufferers from what I noticed that day - they had masks on.

Great footage. There is something about the garbage trucks and the red dusk storm that reminds me of the film "Solyent Green". I sometimes wonder how it would look if those of us with dust storm footage, collab them together and share them, and montage them differently to tell a story. Do you ever wave to them?

I hope in future you get a side loader MJ for your council, i think you need a truck licence first and what type of garbage would you wanna collect bottles, paper, greens or garbage?

lol i havent had the great times asking drivers can i have a hopper view, im so nice and some say its to dangerous, i said in my head thats BULLSHIT
