Check the AnandTech review of SSD's. Patriot uses the JMicro controller wich drops to 20 kBps random writes once the disk get used. Yes, 20 KILO bytes per second, 5000 times SLOWER than advertised. The JMicro controller is crap. Buy the OCZ VERTEX which uses the IndiLink controller and actually outperforms the Intel X25-M on some benchmarks. Take the Patriot back -- it will NEVER work. Buy the OCZ Vertex and make sure you have firmware version 1275 or newer.

what about battery life?

how much cache does this have? ie: 32MB or 64MB

v2 warp I totally agree is a piece of shit. Do yourself a favor and light your money on fire. I am on my 2nd one. Warranty swap. When you first get it it will be fast. Once you have used it awhile and the flash cells need to be rewritten you are screwed. It all turns to shit. Patriot know they suck but they will only swap out your unit for another shit of the same model. v3 + I think has flashable firmware.

I have this SSD (patriot 64GB V2) and it works really really good!

I have included all possible fixes into my system right after installation of fresh system and this Patriot is still the worst drive ever.
Prefetch is off, virtual memory as well, browser's cache is moved to ram-disk, additional disk cache is enabled and still it works like crap. It often freezes my system totally and it takes ages to install anything. Also maximum read speed is nowhere near promised 175MB/s.
DON'T EVER CONSIDER BUYING THIS PIECE OF CRAP!!!

Great test! Thanks :) Now... am running to the shop to get Patriot ^_^ especially that I found it for quite decent price :)

cb butters: I have the Asus 1000he netbook; essentially the same thing as the 1000. My question: how is the battery life using the SSD versus the hard drive included with the Asus? Did you notice any improvements with the SSD in terms of battery life?
You can upgrade the EEE HD w/o voiding the warranty?

if you watch my video carefully, the warranty sticker is intact on my cover, I don't think changing the HDD voids the warranty anyways though.
