the media (ABC news) is emphatically insinuating mental health issues, by interviewing psychologists and paraphrasing his research as a study in fantasy. CIA programming would involve psychoactive drugs, isolation from friends and family, destruction of evidence, and limited intervention from lawyers or anyone who would question that Holmes was in deed the perpetrator of said events.

I agree. The same thing happened to Tim McVeigh - he went from being a high achiever in the Army, lauded as a top soldier, but when he failed to qualify for Special Forces, he had to go back home to being a security guard. He "cracked up" too. Both sound like proud guys who didnt like finding out how they actually rated in the grand picture.
