This song came out in 1958, Johnnie's hit making years were behind him. But he still had some decent songs in him. This wasn'r one of his best but it wasn't bad eather.

  • Johnnie Ray had his own incredible style & sound and "Lonely For A Letter" has the sound of a 50's hit yet wasn't played on the radio...lack of chart action doesn't mean lack of quality as this has been demonstrated too many times over the years! Johnnie Ray should be in Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame...what gives?

  • @bradly2007 I think I told you before, "Don't hold your Breath"

The people who run the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame do not consider any singer from the early 50's Rockers. In fact neither do I, they had to much talent to be among that bunch they have on the display there. Though singers like Johnnie and Frankie Laine

changed the music from what was popular in the 40's and help lead the way for the early rock they will never be recognized by that bunch

  • @bradly2007 Many of the best songs done by Johnnie never made the charts, my favoried has always been "No Wedding Today" which few people remember today.

  • yet another superb unknown track by the great man surely a c.d. should be put out with these rare tracks on. david wolverhampton

  • I thought you might like to know that I just put on YouTube another rare Johnnie song. This one is

    "Cool Water"

  • @markalson1938 one can always wish & hope that Johnnie get recognition his groundbreaking talent deserves...sad it didn't happen in his lifetime but for the sake of his status as the legendary bridge from pop singers to rock & blues, hope it happens!

  • HE WAS VERY FAMOUS, HE HAD A GREAT VOICE
