The story was written by I.S Jauhar and B.R Chopra planned to make the movie in Lahore. However, due to partition they abandoned the plan and moved to Bombay. Finally the movie was made and released in 1954. The song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and not by Asha Bhosle. Three poets wrote its songs: Majrooh Sultanpuri, Shailendra and Raja Mahdi Ali Khan.

Earthmusic credits the song to Lata Mangeshkar. But the voice and singing style makes me think this song was sung by Asha Bhosle.

Kamal Amrohi never informed his first family of his marriage to MK until about 2 years after the fact. When this movie was released, his children got to see what their choti ami looked like. They were so awed by her beauty there was a dread that their abbajahan was going to abandon them and we all know that on the contrary she embraced them with much affection.
