Here's a video of Nate Wavle performing Creston's Concertino for Marimba at the Cortland Jr. Sr. High School Spring 2008 concert. Nate, a junior at CJSHS in 2007-08, performed this Grade 6 piece for his NYSSMA All-State solo in May 2008 and received a score of 100. Josh Oxford accompanied on piano. Josh is a talented percussionist, pianist, Ithaca College graduate, and CJSHS alumnus.

  • Very good performance. Tho half of that 'very good' will have to go to the pianist. :D

  • Press 7 on the video to make the soloist dance.

  • In my state, a 1 rating is "excellent", 2 is "good", etc. Lots of people get 1 ratings, so I was by no means first. You can think of a 1 rating as being like an A letter grade. You have to get a 1 at the regional level to advance to state, and the goal is to get a 1 at state. You get a little blue ribbon and everything.

  • You mean 1st? I thought you meant it as in "I got a one star rating" lol

  • finally got first section down

  • Ugh I gotta play this song for an audition on mallets for this group... and I'm barely out of middle school...

  • hehe i was there

  • O.O WOW.............. AMazing man amazing

  • uhh, woman? which one? the one playing the piano? Thats josh oxford. the other lady? dunno. looks like a page turner to me... this is john f btw

  • Best Concertino for Marimba Performance Ever!!! I looked at the other videos of people playing this piece and they may be older but they suck compared to you! You technical and musical skills are astounding and I would love to hear the other movements from you! WELL DONE!
