designasound.com - in this tutorial, I would like to show you how to create Classic Trance Lead with two instances of Novation V-Station virtual synth and my favourite DAW - Ableton Live.

The concept is very simple - I'm starting with an Init Bank sound and step by step I'm going to explain some few tricks about sound synthesis. The subtitles are available but they're pretty small - be sure to watch at full screen.

These sounds and whole soundbank with 114 sounds is available at www.designasound.com

  • thanks for nice comment :)

youTube compressed the sound quality so it seems a little bit too flat but somewhere on my website is mp3 320kbps example...

Overall, i need to improve subtitles for sure :)

Again, thank you for your comment

  • I thought the master detune thing was clever :)

  • @imperialpod Agreed, it's how you use it. Plenty of well-known, warm, lush trance leads are made with V-station.

  • @Glisevask So which is it? Extremely cool sounds? or flat, lifeless and boring?

  • Your video is too confusing. First of all where does it even begin?

  • Hey THANKs for taking the time to create and post this video, especially with sub-titles.

If you used Premiere to edit your video, you could simply SCALE the Sub-titles and add a 1-2 pixel glow, so that they stand out more (use Gold or Black, with White main color). You may consider Posting the Video in HD, the sound quality is better, & when encoding Video from your editing program... render it in HD 720p with the audio in 96-192Kbps (max). If it's already compressed a little, it better!

  • Sounds a little bit like wintergames on commodore64 xD

  • quality!

  • I beg to differ. If you make a flat sound then of course it will sound flat.

If you want a lush, supernova sound, then just make one.

This is as lush and smooth as any hardware I've owned over the years.

  • Pretty basic sound, but it's still extremely effective! The only drawback is the fact that V-Station sounds very digital and lacks warmth. V-Station can off course produce extremely cool sounds, but it always sounds digital, flat, lifeless and a bit boring. It's such a shame that V-Station's sound misses these quality, because it's such a fun synth to work with. But kudos for the video! I liked that you went trough the use of effects and the use of the instrument rack aswell! Great stuff!
