Amy MacBride hosts this episode of Where To Go NY and takes you to the Hell's Kitchen district and to one of the coolest bars in town, Rudy's. Located on 9th avenue between 44th and 45th streets, Rudy's has been pourin' the pints and pitchers of beer before and after Prohibition. It is said to be the first establishment in New York to have gotten it's license back when the Prohibition was lifted in the early 1930s. Amy hangs out with some of the regulars who enjoy the FREE hot dogs while drinkin' $7.00 pitchers of Rudy's Blonde or $9.00 Rudy's Red pitchers tap making Rudy's a definitive Where To Go NY Spot!
As the rumors go, Al Capone knocked a few drinks back at Rudy's on his honeymoon eve and Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner would hang out at Rudy's while staying at Ava's apartment on 45th street. Steely Dan has a song about Rudy's called Black Cow which they recorded in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood studio.
That woman serving the hotdogs is my grandma!!!
