  • @Sodomodo its an immature red tail hawk. Osprey only eat fish.

  • This is NOT an Osprey. Osprey do NOT hunt for birds, especially in someone's backyard. Their diets consits entirely of fish. The bird in the video is a species of hawk eating what looks like a pigeon. Case closed.

  • It's an Osprey, also known as a Seahawk

  • Here's my 2 cents on this old dialogue, as a birder of 20 years...

No such thing as a short-tailed hawk...

I'm leaning toward juvenile Ferruginous Hawk, which would be a really good record. they are rare in the winter in Florida. I was thinking falcon too, but nothing really fits.

It's not an osprey regardless of diet. Too much dark colouring on the cheek and neck, the bill is too big and show's a light colour (yellow?) with a dark tip. The legs are too long, feathered. Voice is not right

  • That is a bird only found in florida in the united states called the SHORT TAILED HAWK! Sometimes they occur darker than that. This one is in what you would call light morph. I identified it by its call, it's size, it's markings, and it's location.

  • That's no osprey. it seems to be some type of falcon wich by the way diet consist of 90% birds. An ospreys diet consist of 99% fish. That dosn't even look like an osprey

  • a juvenile anyway.

  • Its a red tailed hawk people come on!
