Great speakers. I redid mine antique red with dark red covers. Upgraded the caps and resistors too. But, where did the stands come from? I always think they should be about 18" taller so i'm not croucing down to try and find the sweet spot. Home made?

@utube3105 Bass Performance is Greatly Improved By these stands, They vastly improve the speed and depth of the bass and the stereo imaging is pinpoint, used on the floor is nowhere near as good, but each to his own taste..!!!

@occobra I bought a set of Arden same as yours in 1982, the price was HK$4,400/pair (2pieces), second hand price, in perfect condition. I used Accuphase C200 and P300 to push them, perfect match. Arden is a floor type speaker, bass performance is poor when they are put on stand or high stand.

We're brothers-in-speakers! I've got a pair of 1979 Ardens too - but teak with brown front, bought for halfprice when 18 months old - a real bargain back in about 1980. And I've met Brian Adams - he came up to me, and said, "Hi! My name's Brian". We were both performing at a charity concert at the Royal Opera House in June 2000. ( I was accompanying Lulu!)

I have a set of Arden's and they are thunder speakers. Literally the bass will cause objects on top to vibrate off and sounds like a plane taking off half way down the street when you have them cranking at a party. They always bring the police:P I have heard better speakers but your paying over 5 thousand dollars at least.
