A small delegation represented a group of marchers from the Maui community, that was held Sept.03,2011. It was in protest to Waihee Valley Plantation Farm, owned and operated by John Varel a billionair who made his money by wind farming and who is also a member of the Nobleman Group, denying native hawaiian access rights of an ancient alanui or pathway to the valley of Waihee, also known as swinging bridges. Take note that Mayor Arakawa with the use of Maui Police Dept. assisted in denying access through threat of arrest.

  • I might be dumb in your mind, but I live there and your family only has memories of living there. I do care about natives and that is why I do the things I do and spend my time fighting these issues in many public meetings and where are you, hiding at home hoping nothing bad will happen, wake up and stop ridiculing me because you afraid. I walked this valley all my life and my keiki and mo'opuna deserve do so without being molested by foreigners. I'm glad to discuss with you bkofmor@gmail.com.

  • Those that comment about we don't know what this means to us Hawaiians. What Hawaiians' are you talking about? I am Hawaiian, my family, my tutu's, my kupuna are buried and have lived in that valley for a 150 years plus. I was born and raised in Waihe'e Valley and Upper Waiehu all my life. Dumb you may think we may be, but how dumb do you question us that have the birth right which is the right of passage given to me as a Hawaiian.

  • Proud to be Hawaiian, Proud to be Me, Proud to Know Who I am and Where I Come From and Proud To Take A Stand As A Hawaiian. Like you said where your family ONCE lived and think you may still have your land, well do your homework because you may no longer own it.

  • We trace our heritage back to our original LCA and RPG for the "DUMB" people that means Land Commission Award and Royal Patent Grant. And we are still living on our land from 1852 when the LCA's were awarded and 1867 when the RPG's were given out. Before calling anyone dumb especially those that have been well educated in Western Law and Hawaiian Kingdom Laws go do your homework because this ohana is united.
