On Monday, July 26th, the Star Tours spaceport terminal closed its gates to the public. I was able to catch what was one of the last flights available to the general public, at around 12:08 AM (on the 27th, I guess).
(I had tried to order tickets for the D23 'Final Flight' event, but I barely missed the cutoff...)
If you listen to the sounds of the other passengers in the cabin, you can almost sense the emotion that was evoked by such a special experience.

Since it was the last day, the Cast Members had absolutely NO problem with me filming the ride.
But, in case this does run into copyright issues:
All rights to all aspects of the attraction, including scenery, storyline, characters, Audio-Animatronics, and, of course, the actual film, are owned by Lucasfilm/The Walt Disney Company.

It was confirmed last year that they will be keeping the announcement chime. :-)

  • i herd they were going to randomize it so that every time you go on it's a new adventure new place but same characters

(one of my dads friends work there and i know most cast members so they tell me everything thats how i know)oh and they are making it 3d.

  • I hope they keep the announcement chime. That was my favorite sound effect used.

  • @Cooltomorrowkid I hope! 3D glasses are annoying!

  • @TheAmericanMedley - I think Disney has the resources to at least look into the new no-glasses 3-D technology, such as that currently being used to develop the Nintendo 3DS system.

Glasses can be a major hassle, and somewhat ruin the realism of it all.

  • @Cooltomorrowkid I think the re-imagining is a great idea since this ride was outdated, but I don't like the idea of Real-D 3D. Sorry, 3D fans.

  • @DisMupPix010 - I'd definitely hope so!

  • @Cooltomorrowkid

Yeah. I'm wondering if we we still see the G2 droids.

  • I was not able to make it into the D23 event either, but I was in the last group of the very last ride of the night for the general public. It was an awesome experience!
