Generations - 3d Game of Life Simulator
http://xerol.org/generations

A new feature of Generations allows you to specify which rule to use. This video demonstrates the /1 rule, which means no cells survive between generations, but any empty cell with exactly one neighbor is born in the next. This leads to an expanding, recursive pattern that is highly fractal. I started with a 2x2 block instead of a single cell (since the 2x2 block "pattern" is still in my database from 23/3) and the toroidal nature of the grid means the full expansion of the pattern can't be realized in this version of the program, but you get the basic idea.

Stills available in high quality (1920x1080) here:

  • I've recently upgraded my computer so I'll probably re-record this one, it looks amazing in HD.

  • @XerolOplan: Maybe I'll actually get around to doing that this week.
