World Fusion is a way of composing, improvising, and performing that brings musics together rather than segregating them. It is a way of making music which holds that all musics are created equal, coexisting in a beautiful brotherhoood/sisterhood of musics that complement and fructify each other. It is a global concept which allows the world's musics-written, improvised, handed-down, traditional, experimental-to come together, to learn, from one another, to reflect human diversity and pluralism. It is the music of rapprochement, of entente_not of competition and confrontation. And it is the logical outcome of the American melting pot: E pluribus unum. Gunther Schuller

  • GUBC, you should: 1)keep on listen!; 2) try and share thoughts with a friend expert on this kind of music; 3) if you like to read, there's a book named "Free Jazz" (Ekkehard Jost) where a whole chapter tries and describe the compositive and improvisative logics in Taylor's Unit Structures.

  • It is sad that there is nothing from Cecil Taylor in the seventies. At the very least, the audio could digitized and uploaded even if there are no films. Cecil Taylor Unit (1978) is my favorite CT recording, and it deserves representation on YouTube. I'll attempt it if I can find a tutorial on how to create a video from a sound recording (hint).

  • intense

  • For those of you who like "Unit Structures"...listen to Cecil's "Conquistador."

  • which I think Cecil did for many years, hence the shape he's in now.

  • The images, which are quite nice, seem to be paced way too fast for the music. It seems to me the music is most reminiscent of a light house horn. very very slow and measured. But perhaps I'm missing something.

  • it's like living an entire life in 3 minutes 47 seconds

  • One of my favorite albums... the video works well with the music.

  • Wow that was fantastic! It makes learning method of sections in frameworks so easy! - genius, thank you...

  • You didn't look at my old comments did you?

    Those are embaressing..whoever you are..

  • The pics in this vid are kinda frighteningly hypnotic... I love it's originality!!!! :-D !!
