Obama and Biden voted for BTN because it was earmarked to needed funding. The approved in spite of being against BTN to get the other issues passed. And these US senators were in a different position that Ms. Palin who, as Governor, was the direct recipient of funding. A lot of good this boondoggle would do a Senator from Chicago. More proof earmarks have to go.

Great bumper-sticker soundbite. I'm sure any debate the Republicans will partake in will be nothing but that. The choice is clear: More Busshit or Something Completely Different. In my mine anything but the former will be a vast improvement.

A nods as good as a wink to a blind horse.Bring on the Debates.

Bicycle paths in the age of global warming? Peace Museum in a country awash in military/war museums? A visitor center for a state devastated by Bush's Katrina disaster to encourage economic growth? A hospital - any hospital in a country crying for health care? Sounds like the man has a good sense of financial priority.

Earmarks have become so pervasive in congress it's virtually impossible to vote on anything WITHOUT earmarks. That's why they have to go. In the meantime democracy goes on despite earmarks.

Palin cut her states earmark requests in Half last year. Lets see what some of Obama's earmarks went for.$12 MILLION for bicycle paths,$450,00.00 for the International Peace Museum,$500,000.00 for a baseball stadium,$392,000,00 for a visitors center in Louisiana, and ARE YOU READY--ONE MILLION DOLLARS for the hospital his wife works at.

Lets try this a different way.You say that Sarah Palin lied about taking this earmark for the bridge to nowhere.PROVE IT.

Obama did not make Earmarks a focal point of his campaign, McCain did. McCain and Palin are lying about her record which is a character issue. I wouldn't have cared less if McCain didn't say anything about Earmarks or said Palin is going to change her ways or even said good for her. But instead he lied. Earmarks are a tiny bit of the total budget. Do I hate them? Probably most of them. How do you get rid of them? Probably through a line-item veto which I support McCain's view on.
The FACTS ARE.Obama and Biden voted FOR the Bridge to Nowhere. The bill did not pass and went through 181 amendments. Then Tom Coburn put forth the "Perfecting Amendment" which diverted the money from the "Bridge to Nowhere" to rebuilding the Twin Spans Bridge in Louisiana that was destroyed by hurricane Kahtrina and on that vote Obama and Biden VOTED NO...So in effect Obama and Biden voted twice FOR the Bridge to Nowhere and Voted NO to rebuilding the Twin Spans Bridge.TRY TO EXPLAIN THAT!

Earmarks make strange bedfellows. And it was Alaska's Republican Senator Ted Stevens who opposed diverting the New Orleans bridge funds and proposed the BTN in the first place. After that earmarks make their usual mess of things. What Palin is making plain is her mastery of having things both ways. She got the appropriation for Alaska yet retained bragging rights for nixing the project. Kiniving b*tch. Oh those photop-ops of her visinting the troops are at a Kuwait border station not inside Iraq
