Hang Gliding Beginnings 1968-1975

Clips taken from my Hang Gliding early years 1968 thru 1975. The film starts with my flat kite days behind our boat and progresses to my first 13 foot Moyes Delta wing and then onto my next gliders which were Bill Bennett gliders the first being with no battens at all so it flapped loudly while being towed. You will notice a few poor take-offs which could have ended in my demise but God has spared me and I live on after almost forty years. Even did some car tows and the end of our film shows my wife Maureen and I flying tandem from a 800 foot Mountain at Collingwood, Canada

Just beautiful. I learned about hang gliders in the early 70s. We had to wait in a library after school, and I discovered the Rogallo glider in a magazine. Been flying since 1981. These videos show the pure joy of flight you are experiencing and a true pioneering spirit. Thank you for posting.

i grew up in the seventies and all i have ever wanted to do was to build ultra-lights and hang gliders and fly them with my friends, i have done none of that because like the song says "the art of flying is dying" the art of flying did die and it died

becuz of so much evil, warmongering and oppression in the world

iinstead of the people of the earth wanting to live like and living like eagles we have chosen to all live like chickens

Great video! Used this to introduce an activity on wing design for hang gliders in my 8th grade science classroom.  It was perfect!!!
