Could the answer to America's drug problem lie in an African root? Supporters say Ibogaine can treat Oxycontin, Vicodin, alcohol and heroin addiction. Some former drug addicts swear by it. Others warn it's too dangerous. In this Special Assignment investigation, CBS 2's Laura Diaz explores the "Root Of Hope".

btw

The history of ADHD
it is not so new... and many addicts seems to have some of it...

  • the good doctor with the tie is a governmental tool. this drug won't be made legal in the u.s. because that would work against the war on drugs, and any informed citizen knows the government makes money on the importation, and then make it again in the privatized prison system. fuck the government.

  • AMEN! That guy IS a dick! And the government DOES suck! Trying to keep people sick... it's like something from a movie. It's like V for Vendetta: the state giving people diseases so it can 'cure' them for a price.

Fuck the government and every dishonest politician in the world (that's almost all of them). Talk about criminality...

Can't make any money selling a plant, so the pharmacies have no interest in it. Stop using chemicals and turn to herbs. They're the real, natural medicine!

  • hippie healin!

  • Yes it's true and everyone should know why drugs are still illegal. The government, CIA, Pharmaceutical companies wont make profit from natural medicines so they criminalize things like KRATOM for dangerous synthetic like oxycodone or heroin. (Yes they ship it in themselves and deal it)

  • @femmepen it would be good to have double blind placebo trials with ibogaine though, no?

  • Cannabidiol has potential in the treatment of opioid addiction, as well...

"The findings highlight the unique contributions of distinct cannabis constituents to addiction vulnerability and suggest that CBD may be a potential treatment for heroin craving and relapse."- Journal of Neuroscience 2009 / Cannabidiol, a nonpsychotropic component of cannabis, inhibits cue-induced heroin-seeking and normalizes discrete mesolimbic neuronal disturbances / PMCID: PMC2829756

  • Wow, half the comments are trolls. That's a lot for a non superstition video.
