John Perkins - The Secret History of the American Empire

John Perkins spent three decades as an Economic Hit Man, business executive, author, and lecturer. He lived and worked in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America. Then he made a decision: he would use these experiences to make the planet a better place for his daughters generation. Today he teaches about the importance of rising to higher levels of consciousness, to waking up -- in both spiritual and physical realms -- and is a champion for environmental and social causes.

It seems to me by means of my limited perspective that we in America have a great deal of choice; not as much as would be ideal but choice none the less. The true secret is that the individual citizen has always been in control. Wether through votes in the booth or in corporate terms votes with our dollars. The key is education of the population so that they "vote" aware of the consequences of their actions. Informed or not the responsibility for the countries actions always belongs to us.

We see that large corporations and the banks have acquired a large percentage of the world's wealth and this percentage will continue to grow. If we aren't already there, we are certainly heading for a new Dark Ages. To quote Winston Churchill, "Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it."
