This is my 2nd iteration of displaying NOAA Hydrographic Survey Grids in the BAG format in Google Earth. I first scraped NGDC for all released BAGs. Then I ran a python program that scraped the metadata from all 2000 BAGs and produces an SQLite database. From there, I produce bounding boxes and summary placemarks in a python program. I then use a bash script to create depth histograms, XML metadata extracted from the BAG, and KML tiled display. The script makes heavy use of gdal and imagemagick.
