lol. whatever you say.

the declaration of independence had nothing to do with my country and it was signed almost 10 years before my country joined the once voluntary union. when my country joined the unoin we rattified the constution, not the decleration of independence.

I take it to mean you consider Texas a country if you didn't mean Deseret. Although thats correct that it was that from 1936 until 1845. I would however rater see that as a proses to wrestle the territory from Mexico than to be a viable state. It was after all smack in the middle of two large dominate countries. Its doubtful it would survive long alone. Mexico was adamant on getting it back at the time.

But, the civil war decided the concept of succession of states. Its not possible.

Actually. The United States of America is a sovereign country. It is a federation because its made up of smaller numerous provinces with large self autonomy. Doesn't change that it is a country by itself. Now, you could argue that that wasn't the intention of many of the men who signed the declaration of independence and later on the constitution. But today it is one country. To claim anything else is a fallacy. Mainly you see that by it having 1 Army, 1 Navy and 1 foreign policy.

No there is a difference. The EU doesn't have a single foreign policy and a single armed forces. You have smaller states who have joined in what was primarily a trade union of states. But it is fast becoming a state of its own. That makes me slightly worried as it has a serious negative democratic political organ.

But to take my own country. Norway, we didn't have the right to our own foreign policy until independence in 1905, and was one of the reasons we chose to break the union with Sweden.

*cont* However, thats a sidestep. Doesn't change the fact that you misrepresented why Obama got the award. And what the award is about.
