Maybe this is what Roxy Music would have sounded like if Brian Eno would have stuck around for a 3rd album..Just maybe..
-
@amdby Yeah, but if only a Genesis reunion would be as cool as Rain Tree Crow.
-
@jezzyby47 Yeah it was a little joke of course...also I happened to listen to Duran's "Tiger Tiger" just a few mins before..John sounds a bit like Karn on that. I wouldn't be surprised to hear JT say that Edwards and Karn are the best bass players ever, thus my post. And I love both bands too.

parallels with 1975 genesis always struck me...vocalist, shy character who hides behind makeup, leaves to explore other world music stuff, guitarist leaves as keyboards too domineering, lots of fans left missing the old stuff but lead singer will never go back......

@gypsyola - What makes you say that? The Bernard Edwards comment? I've just removed it now, they were both brilliant in their own way and style. I know JT is a big Chic fan and there are videos up here on YT of them both playing together (John & Bernard). I love the Chic sound and grooves, and production genius. Japan were unique in a completely different way, Both unique and both brilliant. No to your question though.

@jezzyby47 hey jezzby47 are you Duran Duran's John Taylor in disguise by any chance?
-
wow!! i forgot just how good they were. Duran Duran were always Japan wanna-be's!!!!! Japan and Sylvian were the real deal.

@ZoMbIxOxO - Buy their live CD then. 'Oil On Canvas' is now also available as a DVD. Absolutely brilliant and timeless.

My New Career really crept up on me recently, as a late convert to this fantastic band. What a weird, intoxicating sound with everything going on around them i.e Recession,Strikes,Thatcher/Tory Govt...Any Bass player & Guitarist must see this to dig the role-reversal of the instruments in passages. I reckon Mick Karn is very underrated.

@gilberta9 - They ALL are underatted. All of them are brilliant musos but together they just gelled like no other band i've ever seen. All the parts fit perfectly but the use of space is unique to them, no other band has ever managed that before or after as well as they did. It just seemed natural for them.
