  • "I'm devout I'm sincere - I'm religious but I'd rather not get radical about it"

  • As a child growing up in the 80's I was only allowed to listen to Christian music and Steve Taylor was pretty much the only CCM artist I really enjoyed. So while my friends were listening to "Beat It" and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" , I was blasting tunes that snidely bewailed how American politicians supposedly don't express their Christian fundamentalism explicitly enough and will more than likely go to Hell for this. It was all downhill from there to say the least.

  • BACK OFF BUDDY!

  • Governor Romney, are you listening?

  • I forgot how good this is! The lyrics, the the saxophone... great music!!

  • The scary thing is how true this is even today!

  • my favorite song from album...dunno why

but I disagree with the person that said that Steve was way more musically talented than Zappa

that statement is just absurd and

    ridiculous

but then again, absurd and ridiculous tend to go hand in hand with Steve

  • The only reason I compared him to Zappa is, my first tour in the Navy was on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, and all the guys in the division I was in alwaqys listened to Frank Zappa. Dirty, vulgar, Frank Zapp. So, when I first heard Steve, I just remembered the style of Zappa, and thought Steve waqs a GREAT Christian version ! ! !

  • @mxrdvr Its funny that you should compare Steve Taylor to Frank Zappa. I was introduced to Steve's music by some christian friends of mine when they took me to a concert of his in early 1986. I was an instant fan, but I too made a comparison to FZ! He (FZ) used a lot of satire in his music as well as Steve, I guess that's where we get the comparison. Musically ST is way more talented.

  • I spent from 1981 - 1985 on the aircraft carrier NIMITZ with poeple listening to stuff like Frank Zappa, Cheech & Chong and people like that. So, the first time I heard Steve Taylor, I compared him to a Christian version of Frank Zappa. After seeing him in concert and getting to meet him, I apologized to Steve for comparing him to the likes of Zappa. Steve Taylor stands ALONE on TOP!!

  • Thanks for putting this up.
