Al Jazeera's Mohammed Vall reports from Southern Sudan on peacekeepers that are operating without basic supplies.
Six months after the deployment of a joint peacekeeping force in Sudan's Darfur region, soldiers are struggling to protect civilians as they face a crippling lack of basic supplies.
Sudan says the joint UN-African Union force [UNAMID] must contain mainly African soldiers.
As a result, that has caused delays in finding enough troops.
their relationship is so strong that china cleared sudan of 80million dollars worth of debt AND even gave them a non-interest 15 million dollar loan for infrastructure (TO BUILD A PALACE!) and only 5 million to the darfur situation. as much as the US gets bashed for not doing much, surprisingly they have done the most for sudan and the darfur crisis. if china plans on being a more powerful country than the US in the near future they need to legitimize their causes and NOT support GENOCIDE.

CHINA has the biggest role in bringing some sort of resolve to this conflict. they are providing munitions for the sudanese government in return for protection over their oil revenues. 71% of sudans oil is bought by china, and china wants nothing to do with the internal conflict because they have strong economic ties and do not want a regime change because they profit so well right now.

Thank you for your comments. You sound as though you know a lot about the situation over there.
I've only been following Sudan for a few days now.
It's always sad when injustices are being carried out against innocent, uninvolved, civilians. All they want is to live happily, and comfortably. They don't deserve any of this. Boycotting the companies that are funding the violence will take a long long time to have any impact. Something more immediate needs to be done I think.
Any idea's?

It's been very difficult for the UN to get equipment or aid from other organisations or countries. Not only on the ground in Sudan, but in all the conflicts and crisis' going on around the world.
Now Al-Bashir has ordered all aid personel out. He isn't going to give up without a fight. I think we all know that.
So the question is, what can be done about it?

You are right about other countries not being willing to supply forces or equipment although it is Sudan who limited the forces to African Union forces and the Sudanese government is extremely complicit in the atrocities being committed and drags its feet every chance it gets, If China were to use the "oil weapon" and threaten to boycott, Sudan would be compelled to listen.

its not sudan that is blocking the UN force or china, its the fact that no countries want to provide forces or equipment for the UN force and are then some how blaming it on sudan.

Sudan HAS oil, that is the problem. They have plenty of money to withstand any petty US sanctions. Two-thirds of their oil is sold to China who has repeatedly fought UN actions against the Sudanese government. Boycott China, boycott the Olympic sponsors( Coke, Visa, GE, MIcrosoft, Samsung, Anheuser-Busch, Panasonic, Staples, Swatch, Volkswagen, and UPS), ...... and don't watch the Genocide Olympics!

They ought to spend what little they have on oil exploration. Find oil, and you'll suddenly see a lot more attention and resources committed.
