A Sikorsky S-64E Skycrane from Erickson Air-Crane departs the North Las Vegas Municipal Airport. After refueling, N164AC departs to California to help fight the massive Station Fire.

  • I would have to say this helps us the most on the fire lines..but I personally would prefer the sound of a super huey any day ;). good video though.

  • @deathorglory100 I live in the city that builds these helicopters and the Oregon Department of Forestry has a contract with them at a operating cost of about $15,500 a hour. So I think it might vary on who has a contract with them.

  • Odd looking thing. What kind of lifting specs does it have?

  • @peterawsome engines need the oil to get to proper operating temp so it can get thin enough to get in all the tight tolorances and into the laberynth seals on the turbine shaft before they put the load of runnin the rotor system on it.

  • it helps slow the the fire and to cool the fire off. they dont use theses to put out the fire.

  • @AmazingLarry100 yeah, i flew a shcwizer 300cbi, and we left the engine on for the same reason
