As busy physicians, Dr. Elaine Wyllie, Director of Pediatric Neurology, and Dr. Robert Wyllie, Chairman of the Pediatric Institute and Children's Hospital, know it is important to exercise. The two doctors know how to tango, instead of bike riding or running on the treadmill, the Wiley's took up ballroom dancing, helping them stay in shape. It is a great exercise and just about everyone can do it. A study in the Journal of Aging Clinical and Experimental Research found dance improves balance and coordination in middle aged and elderly people. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine show dancing reduces the risk for dementia. Dr. Theodore Shu says people generally tend to be happier if they are physically and socially actively engaged.
