On Monday a large protest has been called at a coal-fired plant in Washington D.C. in what organizers say will be largest act of civil disobedience against global warming in this country. In the days leading up to the protest youth climate activists are organizing a conference called Power Shift 09. Thousands of student activists plan to lobby lawmakers on Capitol Hill urging them to rebuild the economy through bold climate and clean energy policy.

there were 11,000 people at the conference. 1,000 made it to the disobedience. A lot of other people were lobbying on Capitol Hill.

It's about "climate change" NOT global warming. Irony is lost - like in the piece by the times saying it was ironic that we had a "freak snowstorm" at a "global warming" rally.
It's about CLIMATE CHANGE. It's about not polluting our rivers and our skies. This is more than just CO2 emissions - this is about our future and it's starts NOW, in the present moment.

One decade or even 20 years or 100 years does not define how climate has changed over thousands.

Sandranian--
there were OVER 11,000 young people there..I was there at powershift. Yeah, irony. Just because it was snowing, does not deny global warming. One day does not define the climate overall

"We expect nearly 11,000 young people..." Errr...not quite 1,000, let alone 11K. I wonder if the fact that there was a huge snow storm in DC that day had anything to do with the light turnout? The irony is just too much: Snow for a Global Warming protest.
What a JOKE.
