I'm an extreme beginner at 24 yrs old. You sound highly intelligent and I enjoyed watching this tip. thank you and your students should feel privileged.

This is a great video....I am a violin/piano teacher that is taking on cello as well....I found vibrato to be very painful for me with violin, because I was taught from the wrist....I have used your techniques to change to a "shoulder" vibrato there too and it has made a world of difference. I have a nicer fuller sound and it is easier and NO PAIN!

I'm a beginner to cello, playing for about a year now. I watched this video yesterday for the first time, tried the technique.. wow, thank you! I'm now opening a greater awarness of the entire left arm. Thank you for sharing.

I can't really pronate or supinate my wrist my forearm bones are fused at the elbow(Congenital Radioulnar synostosis). So they don't really rotate. I like how you said use your shoulder joint more to do this technique. Do you think this will give me big problems with vibrato? Not being able to supinate my left wrist past a thumbs up... I really want to learn cello.

hi can you give tips on vibrato on higher positions? =)

0:07, it's higher position, not lower. The more your hand is closer to the bridge, the higher the position. get it right!

@DJdelfoimperatore No, I am talking about vibrato in the lower positions, not higher positions. This is obvious in the video.
