This is the first time I have heard this and trust me... not much that Laura laid down has escaped me. This is so different than the version that is on the PL. She is so deep in to lyric!

caveatemp, nice try, but very disappointed your photo array cropped the picture of Laura, Maria, and Scootie. You showed all of Laura's tom cats, but neglected her favorite "She-line."

Oh God! This is FASCINATING and BEAUTIFUL! Where in the world did you find this? Have you got any other Laura demos? I would LOVE to hear how any of the beautiful tunes on "More than a new discovery" sounded in this early stage. I always wondered what "Stoney end" or "He's a runner" or "Wedding Bell Blues" sounded like when Laura was just crafting them at the piano!

Pretty amazing, eh? I wish there were more. Just this and And When I Die. A short cd that came with the new book called "Laura Nyro: Lyrics & Reminiscences" has them. We should contact her publisher or family or somebody. If there are more recordings I would sure love to hear them too.

Laura songs/lp's? Your 3 are excellent choices. My favorites right now are: Timer, Blackpatch, Lu/ Flimflam Man( the demo version), Map to the Treasure. Christmas in my Soul. O.K. - narrowing it down to 5 was hard enough! "I am the Blues" is up there on my list too. I was "Luckie" enough to see Laura live in Chicago twice.
